"Due to me being on the skinner and tall side it has always been difficult for me to find clothing that “I” feel  look good on me."   Tall Snob Responds:  Thank you for reaching out for suggestions. Tall Personal Shopping: Tall, Plus Size Professional Feels Frumpy

Somewhat of an apple shape with a flat rear area.  35" inseam length.  Other Notes: - Empire waist is not flattering on her body and she feels insecure with bare upper arms. "Her closet is a fashion nighmare." Wants:  She works in an office selling property insurance and needs clothes for work.  She loves the preppy look and is inspired by Steve Nicks. Budget:  Tight, but can make exceptions for fabulous pieces.   Tall Snob Responds:  I understand that when you feel frumpy you think everything looks bad on you, whether it does or not.  I think your issue with empire waists is that with being tall, the empire may not even hit under your chest.  Plus with a big chest, you often see the empire curve really adding extra emphasis to your chest.  You get a bust roll and then viola the girls are definitely defined and curved. However, you … [Read more...]

Tall Personal Shopping: What to Wear as a Court Reporter

Client: 6'1" tall, 49 years old works as a court reporter. Size: 14 with a 35" inseam length. Size 12 shoes. Wants: Help in finding clothes. She basically has 2 pair of black knit pants that she interchanges with blouses. She hates shopping and doesn't know what looks good together. Budget:  Moderately priced.   Tall Snob Responds:  I can see your dilemma. You work in an environment where the judge wears a bulky robe that masks every bit of body shape.  You are trying to cover the case without being the focus of the case. Does this mean you need to dress like a nun? No! You can still be a stylish women while still looking professional.  Now having said that, I don't suggest you wear fluorescent colors or get an extreme hairstyle.  But, you can office appropriate colored suits with a pretty accessory such as a shiny necklace. She loves outfits with bright colors in trendy styles similar to a "short" person's wardrobe. Tall Snob Responds: I've tried to give you as much as a mix and match wardrobe as I can.  By keeping the bottoms in neutral colors of tan and navy blue, it's easy to mix and match all the tops and sweaters. The accessories will also match all the items.  I hope this helps to maximize your budget.  I did tend to go overboard on the polka dots, so I hope you love dots. It seems like they are everywhere this season. As far as creating items similar to a short person's wardrobe, I have no expertise there and I'm not going to pretend that I do. Please embrace your height and play up your assets as you are unique and gorgeous and I sincerely want you to believe that!  Striped Tall Peplum Top. Tall Cardi. Tall … [Read more...]

Tall Jumpsuits For Every Age

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've shared fun finds and inspiration with you!  I have a really good excuse which I blogged about on my personal blog today! (You can see that post here).  Let's just say I may be highlighting a few more maternity looks in the coming weeks! :)  I've been very sick on and off and have put any "extra" energy into the weekly newsletter!  But I'm feeling better lately and hope to be able to blog here more frequently! Today I wanted to highlight some fun finds from a favorite partner.  I love rompers, one pieces, jumpsuits--whatever you want to call them.  But it can be tough to pull off depending on your body type, age, and personal style.  I thought it was interesting that the three offered in tall sizes at Alloy right now seem to neatly fit into three age categories.  Now, I always have to give the disclaimer each time I mention dressing for your age or stage in life that there really are no hard and fast rules! If you like it and feel confident in … [Read more...]

Style Challenge:  She says she is having a hard time finding pants that fit as she has a flat behind.  She prefers mid-rise pants with straight leg styles. Tall Snob Responds:  You mentioned that you had purchased some pants from Alloy, but returned them as they cater to younger clients.  I'm going to agree with you that although their pants are affordable, they are most likely not age appropriate for you. Unfortunately, its slim pickings for what you want.  So, I am listing the one that I have found. You will have to try them on and see if they fit and return them if not. Here are the current options: Straight Cut Tall Suit Pants - in 36" or 38" inseam. Also in tan. Pendelton Destination Pants - 37" Inseam Perfect Tall Khaki Pants - 37" Inseam. I hope this helps and if anyone else have an idea of pants that may … [Read more...]

Monday Blues with a Touch of Sunshine

How was your weekend? Did you do anything interesting? We decided to check out the Ice Castles. Every year artisans create gorgeous ice castles in a few places around the country. This year they are here in our town. I must say they are rather fascinating and I highly recommend you visit if you get the chance. By the way, Alex Boyé just created a "Frozen" Video at the Ice Castles. It's really amazing! As you can see Winter's not over yet here in Utah, but I'm ready for it to be.  So I'm calling today's outfit: "Monday blues with a touch of sunshine". Would You Wear These?

So what do you think of the pajama pant (and sometimes top) trend?  I've recently spotted this trend in tall sizes and I wanted to get your take: {via} Here are a couple of tall satin pajama pants I stumbled across: Tall Julie Straight Leg Pant in Drapey Satin Crepe. Tall Marisa Straight Leg Pant in Drapey Satin Crepe. I think if you want to rock this trend, these pairs are a bit safer than patterned pairs.  It's like a taste of the trend without FULLY embracing it!  I think I'd pair these pants with a high quality tank, heels, and a statement necklace.  And maybe a cuff bracelet.  I think it's key to keep it simple.  For other tips on how to wear this trend check out this post over at Obsessed. Lots of great inspiration images as well! So how do you feel about the pajama pant trend?  Love it? Hate it?  I've learned to never say never when it comes to fashion but I can't say I'm in love...yet. ;)   … [Read more...]

I ♥ Pilates

If you're a newsletter subscriber, you may remember that in one of the Christmas gift guides, Tiffany suggested buying a Roku.  She was so convincing that I bought Mr. Tall a Roku player.  If you're not familiar with what it is, it's a small media player that hooks into your television and connects to your WIFI. You can then broadcast Amazon movies easily as well as hundreds of other channels. Think of it as the ultimate remote control. Mr. Tall loves it, but I may love it even more. I missed the "Downton Abbey" craze and am now watching all the episodes via my Roku stream.  I just about fell over when my teen sons admitted that they love the show too! :) Anyway, what I really wanted to share with you today is that I love the Pilates Anytime Channel! You know me, when I love something, I share it with you.   I'm still on the 15 day free trial period of this channel and I must say that I'm enjoying it.  My feet are doing my better after my plantar fasciitis, but I'm not … [Read more...]
