Tall Personal Shopping: Day to Night Dress for Vacation

Client: 6'0" women Size: 6, 36" inseam Budget: $50 Request: My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Washington DC this summer.  I'd like a tall summer dress that I can wear during the day while sightseeing but that can be dressed up for an evening out.: Tall Snob Responds: I love this request! It's very realistic- when you travel you don't want to over pack so it's important that clothing items pull double duty.  In addition $50 is a reasonable price for a day time dress (though magazines would have you believe that $150 is "normal." Don't you hate that?!).  I probably should have requested the client's age for a more specific search but here's what I came up with (and keep reading for some tips on taking dresses from day to night!). All dresses are under $50, with many falling under $40. Other than the dress on the top right, I consider these dresses ultra feminine in style.  The top right is a bit more classic with its shape and navy and white stripes. Tall Blue … [Read more...]

Fresh Color Combo

As usual when I'm uninspired, I peruse Pinterest.  It works every time.  This time I came across this pin and decided to find some tall items in this fun color combo: pale jeans, bright pink, and mint. via Pinterest. As I was collecting items, I didn't intend to create real outfits but the look on the left and on the right could easily be worn together.  I love the light jeans with the pastel colors.  Sources are below: Tall Peplum Top.  Colorblock belt.   Fitted tall boyfriend shirt. Lightweight boyfriend tall cardigan.  Foxy Joy Bleached Skinny Jean. 37 inch inseam.  Cable Knit Tall Sweater. Pink shoes. Up to size 12.   Mint Shoes. Up to size 12. … [Read more...]

Tall Jumpsuits For Every Age

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've shared fun finds and inspiration with you!  I have a really good excuse which I blogged about on my personal blog today! (You can see that post here).  Let's just say I may be highlighting a few more maternity looks in the coming weeks! :)  I've been very sick on and off and have put any "extra" energy into the weekly newsletter!  But I'm feeling better lately and hope to be able to blog here more frequently! Today I wanted to highlight some fun finds from a favorite partner.  I love rompers, one pieces, jumpsuits--whatever you want to call them.  But it can be tough to pull off depending on your body type, age, and personal style.  I thought it was interesting that the three offered in tall sizes at Alloy right now seem to neatly fit into three age categories.  Now, I always have to give the disclaimer each time I mention dressing for your age or stage in life that there really are no hard and fast rules! If you like it and feel confident in … [Read more...]

Would You Wear These?

So what do you think of the pajama pant (and sometimes top) trend?  I've recently spotted this trend in tall sizes and I wanted to get your take: {via} Here are a couple of tall satin pajama pants I stumbled across: Tall Julie Straight Leg Pant in Drapey Satin Crepe. Tall Marisa Straight Leg Pant in Drapey Satin Crepe. I think if you want to rock this trend, these pairs are a bit safer than patterned pairs.  It's like a taste of the trend without FULLY embracing it!  I think I'd pair these pants with a high quality tank, heels, and a statement necklace.  And maybe a cuff bracelet.  I think it's key to keep it simple.  For other tips on how to wear this trend check out this post over at Obsessed. Lots of great inspiration images as well! So how do you feel about the pajama pant trend?  Love it? Hate it?  I've learned to never say never when it comes to fashion but I can't say I'm in love...yet. ;)   … [Read more...]

Winter’s Not Over Yet: Stylish Snow Boots

I know retailers are slashing prices like crazy and moving onto spring.  But if you live in a cold climate like I do, you know we have a good 3 months left of cold, wet, snowy, and/or slushy weather [insert tears here].  I keep trying to move on but as I type the snow is coming down, so before we start highlighting bright and light spring looks, let's take one last look at a winter topic: snow boots.  It's tough to look stylish when it's freezing out.  But these wet and cold weather boots make the snow a bit more bearable.  They range in size availability from size 10 to 12.5 and in price from $29 to $200+. First a few casual options: Rubber Duck Sporty Snow Jogger Boot. Rubber Duck Trek Jogger Boot.  The North Face Zophia Boot. And now for a few sleeker options: Sorel Conquest Carly. Sorel Slimpack Riding.  Chipahko Wool Blend Boot. Now get out there and play in the snow! … [Read more...]

A Regal Holiday Look: Faux Fur, Lace, and Satin.

Remember this post?  I mentioned in it that I was tempted to style this gorgeous dress a bit more trendy. Well I just couldn't help myself! I have to admit though, once I got going, the style of this dress is just so classic that it was tough to attempt a "trendy" look without making it too casual.  I decided to stick with classic but with a bit more edge--suitable for younger and older fashionistas alike.  Take a look! Kenneth Jay Lane Earrings.  (and a less expensive alternative). Guess Caged Stone Ring. “Blair” Stingray Embossed Clutch. Nine West Camya. Up to size 12 Fitzwell Rhodes. Up to size 13 (kitten heel) The Limited Faux Fur Cape. The fur stole, super high heels, and caged ring take this prim look and give it a bit more pizzazz.  Happy Shopping!   … [Read more...]

A Regal Holiday Look: Rosettes, Suede, and Lace

When I saw this lovely dress, I just had to create a look featuring it.  While I was tempted to go trendy, this long, beautiful gown just begged to be styled in the most regal way.  I hope I delivered! I love all the texture featured here: lace, suede, and rosettes.  Texture adds detail and interest that will make people look twice! In case the suede pumps are too high, I included a pair of kitten heel pumps that still get the job done.  I chose accessories that compliment this classic dress and give the entire look a level of maturity.  Add a chic up-do and it doesn't get more glamorous. Tall Lace Maxi Dress. Kate Spade New  York Moodstone Drop Earrings. Rosette Cropped Jacket.  Kate Spade New York Opening Night Hinged Bangle.  Lace Minaudiere Clutch. Nine West Guetette Red Suede Pumps. Up to size 12. RSVP Maren Red Patent Pump. Up to size 12. … [Read more...]
