Maxi dresses are usually a high-demand item amongst tall women, and I think I may have just found the perfect one! I had the exciting experience of visiting a Long Tall Sally store with my mom last week, and I immediately honed in on this mixed print, black and white button-up maxi dress.
There is a lot to love about this dress. For starters, it buttons all the way down which means you get to decide how much leg you want to show. You can go from showing no leg at all to a maxi with a slit simply by undoing a few buttons. Being able to adjust the slit allows the dress to seamlessly go from a day look to a night look making it a very versatile piece. You can also wear it as a long-line vest over shorts and a tank or over a slipdress.
The scoop neckline is very flattering and perfect for showing off your favorite statement necklace. The wide straps and full coverage on the back of the dress make it less revealing (and more comfortable) than other halter, strapless or spaghetti strap maxis that I’ve owned. Another nice detail is the lace-up back which allows various adjustments in the fit of the bodice.
As far as colors and patterns are concerned, this dress hits several of my favorites including a versatile black/white color palette and some fun pattern mixing with the polka dot fabric and two different floral fabrics. Of course, a black and white dress is just begging for a pop of color. I plan to wear it with some bright accents like a colorful cuff bracelet, a bright purse or bright shoes. Another benefit of the neutral colors of this dress is that I can wear it well into the cooler months of fall with a denim jacket and booties.
