I’ve been seeing this look for a bit and love it. It’s also a perfect trend to take your colored denim into fall. Here are a few of my favorite open weave (also called “crochet,” but doesn’t that sound kind of ancient?) shirts. I’ve included different price points and looks suitable for different age ranges. Let’s start with:
This is a perfect option for the younger crowd. It’s adorable and the colored neckline is perfect to match with different color bottoms. I’m not sure I’m young enough to pull it off…but I’m tempted!! Oh and as a side note, to make it more conservative, you could always pair a white tank under it!
Aside from the first tank, these other options are suitable for all ages. This one isn’t too form-fitting and the color is simply gorgeous (it comes in two other silvery shades as well). For a youthful look, pair with similar color denim (as seen on the model). For something more classic, pair with winter white (come fall) or a deep hue.
Another option suitable for any age group! For the young’uns (as my country bumpkin dad would say), how cute is it with these leather shorts? For an older fashionista, go more conservative with your bottoms. It comes in black and papaya (LOVE that color) as well. It’s chic, stylish, and even forgiving. I love it when that happens!
This is one of my favorites!! It really would work well for any age but it’s not quite as forgiving as some of the other options. I love the oatmeal color, the length, and the price!
While any age can wear this, for the 50+ crowd, it’s the safest option. It’s certainly the most conservative option. I have a very preppy girl locked up inside so I love indulging her with Gap purchases! Besides navy, this lovely tall sized sweater comes in gray and ivory and the price can’t be beat. I’d wear it with the teal Dorothy Perkins pair of jeans (below).
As for skinny jeans I won’t post many pairs because we’ve done so. many. posts. on them!! But here is one pair that would look so lovely with some of the options above! Feel free to peruse any of these posts on colored denim for more options!
One more thing: I have to say, I don’t want any woman to feel she’s too “old,” to wear current trends! The trick is to find a way to wear trends that suit your body type and style. The only reason I even mention age is because I realize there are women out there who need guidance on what’s appropriate for their age group and who want to see trends that work with their stage in life, body type, and age!
Now that that’s outta the way, get to shopping!
