So I ordered this maxi dress last week…Does it look familiar? It’s the one I included in the newsletter a couple of weeks ago. I joked with Krista that the newsletter was so compelling that I ordered the dress! Well it’s sold out in most colors which demonstrates its popularity. I wanted to share a quick review as well as outfit inspiration for this piece.
Let’s do the review first:
Pros: It’s very affordable. A tall maxi at that price?! Seriously, you can’t get better than that. It’s also super long! I ordered a medium and it grazed the floor. I could have worn it with 3 inch heels! I love the charcoal stripe. Grey is everywhere- It’s very on trend and no wonder why. It’s a perfect neutral. Goes with black, brown, pastels, and brights! (But if you’re not crazy about the grey stripe it’s still available in solid back which dresses it up a notch).
Cons: It’s strapless. That could be a pro, depending on your tastes and style, but for me- running around with two kids tugging on me– I knew I’d only get to wear the dress on date night. The most disappointing part for me was that the drawstring wasn’t a real drawstring. The waist was elasticized and then the string was sewn on. A real drawstring would have allowed more of a custom fit.
Overall, the dress didn’t fit me well in the waist, so I returned it. But I seriously went back and forth because I love it SO much! The length, the color, and the price all made it such a winner! Clearly I can’t let it go, hence my text to all my tall girlfriends to BUY this dress, and this post. If I can’t enjoy it, maybe you can!
Ok, so my plan was to style this dress with some accessories…but then as I was searching for the perfect pair of bright wedges to go with it, I just couldn’t make up my mind! Add to that both girls napping and what do you get? One dress and EIGHT pairs of shoes (most of which are on sale with FREE shipping!). Did I mention I’m a shoe girl?! Which pair would you choose?
I love the idea of this dress with bright wedges– fierce fuchsia, happy yellow, modern coral, and poppy red. Or go simple with a pair of cool grey wedges. Either way you’ve kicked up the cool factor by choosing something more stylish than flip flops (which is totally what I’d be tempted to pair it with!). Add some bright baubles, a sporty watch, and a messy top bun, and you’re in business! If you order this dress, let me know what you think! I’d love to hear from you!
